Samsung cries over patent laws being manipulated to work in favour of a company even as Apple continues to seek to move to court, demanding for an additional ban on Samsung products in the US and $707 million in compensation for damages caused.  After having scored a victory against the Korean firm last month, Apple has appealed to courts, asking them to place a ban on Samsung products. Apple has already won $1.05 billion as a part of damages in their case against Samsung, wherein Samsung was accused of imitating key elements of the design of the iPhone. Samsung plans to take the matter ahead, requesting for further investigating into the final decision.

Upon their victory in the aforementioned case, Apple now seeks to demand for a ban on the products that were mentioned during the proceedings of the trial, extending the ban on all of Samsung’s products that even remotely infringe upon the design patents. This obviously brings Samsung’s Galaxy S3 under the radar too. This case is an example of a trial that goes on in courts across the world. A German court, meanwhile, ruled out the possibility of Samsung infringing upon one of Apple’s patents.

Apple recently introduced their iPhone 5 which managed to gather the expected amount of frenzy among fans, causing the pre-orders to set records with sales shooting up to 10 million during the first weekend. This places Samsung and Apple in direct competition with each other over the domination of the smartphone market. Clearly Samsung comes across as the winner, owing to the wide variety in the phones they manufacture. However, with Apple’s recent move, Samsung believes consumers in US stand to lose as they will suffer under rise in prices even as the option available to them will be cut down. Besides, if let off unchallenged, there is a likelihood of Apple resorting to take other competitors to court in order to find their way around in future.

In Apple’s defense, their move to approach the court is justified considering the fact that Samsung’s decision to imitate the designs of their products has impacted Apple since they lay importance to ethics over patents and money, apparently. Besides, Apple’s repeated requests to Samsung to refrain from do so seemed to have fallen on deaf ears.
