iphone5saApple is going to have an event scheduled next Tuesday and there it will be talking about the new iPhone 5S and the more affordable, more colorful iPhone 5C, but even though the new device is hitting the market, older iPhone 5 models are going to be discontinued according to reports.  A leaked document that shows the new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C models listed also shows that a couple of the iPhone 5 models with higher amounts of internal memory are set to be retired, at least for one mobile carrier.

Usually Apple will take a little bit off the price tag for the last two iPhone models when the newest model shows up, which is still going to happen, but with two models being launched it could be causing a new tradition for Apple.  The leaked document came from a mobile carrier in Canada and clearly shows that it will stop selling the 32GB and 64GB iPhone 5 model on the 28th of September.  The rumored iPhone 5S release date is slated for one week before the leaked document calls for the two iPhone models to be discontinued.

The one week delay would give mobile carriers a little time to get rid of remaining stock of older iPhones and that is when consumers are going to find the best deals.  Back when the iPhone 5 launched on the Verizon Wireless network, it offered the older, iPhone 4S to customers with a $50 price discount while supplies lasted.  Getting rid of the older inventory does take away from some of the sales of the newer device, but the more customers that are buying iPhones, the more likely they are to upgrade to the newer model next time around.

There was also rumors that Verizon Wireless has limited stock of the iPhone 5 and that could have been partly because it was trying to keep the stock numbers down leading up to the iPhone 5S release this month.  The iPhone 5 with the lowest amount of storage was typically kept on the market with a $99 price tag, but there are rumors that the iPhone 5C is going to be replacing that this time around.  Another source claims that the iPhone 5C will replace the iPhone 4S, but Apple has not confirmed or denied either comment at this point.
