ipadiarApple recently released the next generation iPad Air and iPad Mini 2 tablets to the public and on that day, the company noted that they would be ready to ship around the 1st of November.  Keeping that in mind, it looks like there will also be a surprise deal involved with the new iPad Air.  Wal-Mart has announced that it will be offering the new 9.7-inch iPad Air at a discount of $20 off the price of the 16GB iPad Air.  The final price for those that want to purchase the device will be just $479.

Wal-Mart has been doing a great job keeping the prices low and offering discounts while other retailers have not been doing the same.  The new iPad Air is likely to sell millions of units on that day and for the weeks afterwards, but at a $20 discount, Wal-Mart will be selling more than normal.  Rumors have been coming down suggesting that Apple is not going to have enough iPads to go around when they are ready to ship and that is typical of the popular high end tablet from Apple.  The iPad Mini 2 is likely to receive the same fate as this will be the first model with the new Retina display.

The iPad Mini 2 will come with a price tag that reads $399 and while the new iPads are priced out, the older models will be discounted as well to help move older inventory from the shelves.  The iPad 4 will be discontinued, while the iPad 2 will be getting the $399 price tag.  Wal-Mart will be offer the 16GB model of the iPad Air for just $479, which is even cheaper than you are going to get it at the Apple Store on that day.

The discount is not that much, but Wal-Mart will be getting plenty of attention now that the deal is already out there for consumers to think about a week before they will be able to buy.  Wal-Mart did not make it clear if other models will be getting the same deal at this time.  The iPad Air will be coming with a new design that is more compact, lightweight and thinner than the previous models released over the years.  The iPad Air will be available on the AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless network.
