In the Android ecosystem, bump ups in software versions are usually rolled out to the unlocked version of any Android-powered smartphone so if you happen to rock a carrier-branded handset, chances are you usually wait a little longer for the update to become available on your device. This is not the case though with the international version of the HTC One X, the current flagship device of the Taiwanese smartphone and tablet manufacturer.

The handset was released in US shores back in May by AT&T as the HTC One X 4G and in line with our discussion earlier, that particular version of the handset already got the update that cranked up its software version to Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich a couple of days back. Users of the international version of the handset on the other hand were still waiting for the update to make its way to their devices – which is usually the other way around.

Though that may be the case, users of the international version of the HTC One X will no longer have to wait for the Android 4.0.4 update for the handset because HTC has finally started the rollout of the update today. So if you happen to have an international HTC One X for your mobile weapon of choice, a notification about the availability of the Android 4.0.4 refresh on your handset should already be waiting for you as soon as you wake up. If for some reason the notification is nowhere to be found, you can still head on over to Settings > About phone > Software updates to manually check for the update.

Once the update has been applied to the handset, users of the international HTC One X will also get to enjoy the goodies and treats that the update brought to the AT&T HTC One XG in our side of the world. These improvements include the remapping of the “Recent Apps” key along with the new tab-switching feature in the handset’s default browser. The update will also bring enhancements to the Camera app such as adjustments to its white balance and continuous autofocus while its Beats Audio feature will also get upgraded. In addition to that, the update will also bring improved platform stability, enhanced memory and improvements to the handset’s browsing experience.

As for the HTC One X released by AT&T in US shores, the handset packs a QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset under the hood which brings to the device a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and a full gigabyte of RAM. The storage space onboard the handset on the other hand comes up to 16GB with no option to have this beefed up. The HTC One X 4G’s display is a 4.7-inch Super IPS LCD2 screen with an HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels while its camera department features an 8MP shooter at its back panel and a 1.3MP webcam out front.  The HTC One X has recently undergone a price reduction at select online retailers.  View the HTC One X lowered price here.
