The previous edition of the rumour mill had it that Amazon’s new generation of Kindle Fire tablets will be gifted with new high resolution screens. Pixels per inch were expected to get quite a boost. New leaks are out now, which also give a solid picture about other hardware present in the tablet. The revealed specs, as promised, pack quite a punch.  All this is headed by the inclusion of the Snapdragon 800 processor.

The second generation Kindle Fire HD tablets will see 2 variants – the 8.9 inch and the 7 inch variant, as is with the current generation of Kindle tablets. According to reports, the 8.9 inch model will most likely see a high res screen with 2560×1600 resolution. The 7 inch Kindle Fire HD, on the other hand, will have a slightly lower resolution (still an upgrade from the previous version) of 1920×1200 pixels. The good news is that the 8.9 inch tablet will feature a rear camera with an 8 MP resolution. The bad news is that the same doesn’t apply for the 7 inch version, which will not get a rear camera feature. Both the Kindle Fire HD tablet variants will get front facing cameras.

The tablets will run on quad core processors (MSM8974) – Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chips reportedly clocked at 2 GHz. Other vitals specs include 2 GB RAM with an Adreno 330 graphic chipset. The new generation tablets promise to be cut down on both weight and form. The bezel on the 8.9 inch variant will be measuring a mere .75 inches in width. The 7 inch version will better it by .25 inches, its bezel measuring only .50 inches.

As far as software goes, the Kindle Fire HD tablets will run on Amazon customized (heavily so, one might add) versions of Google’s Android 4.2.2 OS. The tablets will feature the usual mobile network and wireless connectivity. Both the Fire HD tablet variants will come with a choice of 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB internal memory storages. Amazon has kept the pricing secret till now. However, it is highly unlikely that the new generation tablets’ prices will match the current pricing of $269 for the 8.9 inch variant and $199 for the 7 inch one, considering the boost in specs. The new tablets are expected to release within the next few months.
