kindlefirehdxmaydayThe new Kindle Fire HDX tablet is available in 7.0 inch and 8.9 inch sizes. Both of those tablets deliver better than 300 PPI pixel density, quad core 2.2 GHz processors, and at least 11 hours of mixed used and 17 hours of reading after a full battery charge. Dolby Audio sound enhancement is on board, as are dual stereo speakers and a built-in microphone. But when the value priced, full-featured and high-performing Amazon tablets arrived in September, one of the features that the world’s largest Internet retailer was boasting about is one they hope you never have to use.

The Kindle Fire HDX is available for immediate shipment starting at $229.

The entire line of 2013 Kindle Fire HDX tablets come with a special feature that Amazon is calling Mayday. While you can reach customer service through traditional e-mail and telephone options, this year’s Kindle Fire HDX tablets come with a special Mayday button so you can get any questions answered about the popular holiday tablet’s operation immediately. And recently, Amazon published a performance report showing that during the incredibly busy holiday season, Amazon problem-solving employees connected with question-asking Kindle Fire HDX customers in an average of just 9 seconds.

When you contact an Amazon customer service rep through the Kindle Fire HDX Mayday button on your tablet, a small box appears on your display showing the face of an Amazon technician which guides you through the resolution of whatever problem or question you may have. The tech handles your problems in real time and you can either choose to follow the advice yourself, or allow them to take over your tablet on the back end and resolve the problem for you.

Amazon has stated that they will employ a customer support team specifically for the Kindle Fire HDX tablets “around-the-clock, 24/7, every day of the year”, to help any Kindle Fire HDX tablet owners who encounter a problem or simply need a question answered. Amazon said that the company is happy to answer your questions, even if you just want to understand better how to get the most out of the full-featured portable PC.

The Kindle Fire HDX 7 and 8.9 inch tablet lineup is currently offered in 16, 32 and 64 GB models, with or without special offers. 4G models are available, and all Kindle Fire HDX tablets offer a free 30 day trial period of Amazon Prime, delivering streaming videos and free two-day shipping. 2.0 GB of RAM memory and a powerful Adreno 330 graphics processor support fast and fluid video viewing and game playing, and the new Kindle Fire HDX tablet line is powered by faster web browsing, as well as access to over 100,000 apps and games in the Amazon Appstore. You can purchase the Kindle Fire HDX starting at $229.

  1. I nave two month old 8.9 HD. What is it worth to trade for a 16GB HDX?

  2. From your interest in Amazon’s Mayday I thought you might like to hear about ShowKit, which is Mayday for any mobile app. We provide software tools–video chat, screen sharing and shared gestures. We believe that great apps connect people.

Feel free to reach out to me if you’d like to learn more.
