The HTC Windows Phone 8X is attractive to smartphone shoppers who enjoy the familiar Windows operating system as opposed to the Apple and Android OS experiences. One of the main benefits to the Windows Phone 8 OS is its ability to sync perfectly with any Microsoft powered computer or Xbox video game console. With a high resolution screen and extremely high pixel density, the HTC Windows Phone 8X is also a global phone that can work on any GSM or UMTS network in the world. And the 8 GB model recently just became more attractive, ending up on the holiday sales list at the Amazon Wireless store for just pennies on contract.

HTC has included the popular Local Scout feature which allows you to use voice driven search requests to quickly locate stores, restaurants, events and other destinations located nearby using the handset’s GPS hardware. The phone is lighter than the typical 4G smartphone at 4.59 ounces (130 g), and is running on the AT&T 4G LTE system in the United States, offered in a wide variety of colors. HTC has given the Windows Phone 8X a large 4.30 inch screen, and resolution runs 720 x 1,280 pixels.

More than 16 million different colors are used to present displays, and they are delivered at an extremely high pixel density of 342 pixels per inch. The Super LCD 2 display receives protection from a layer of scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass, and standard capacitive, multitouch gestures are used to navigate the device. By helping conserve battery life through the use of power saving features like light and proximity sensors, the handset’s 1,800 mA battery can deliver an above average 11.30 hours of talk time from a single charge.

The system chip that HTC chose to handle device operations on their Windows Phone 8X is a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 model, built around a dual core Krait central processor which has been clocked at 1.5 GHz. All graphics processing is handled exclusively by an Adreno 225 GPU, and 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board. Aside from the 8 GB model, there is also a 16 GB version offered by AT&T.

The camera package provides some unique features not found on most smartphones, like extra wide 88 degree image and video capture on both the front facing chat cam and rear mounted camcorder. The rear mounted 8.0 megapixel camcorder delivers a dedicated shutter key, and the exclusive HTC ImageSense technology delivers a full cadre of special effects and customization features. Video recording runs 1,080P HD resolution, the Internet Explorer 10.0 web browser has been pre-installed, and popular social networking destinations Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Picasa have been preloaded.
