Select online wireless retailers like Wirefly are offering the Galaxy S III on the Sprint network for $99 on contract. Now that the Galaxy S III is offered by multiple competing vendors, Sprint has wisely undercut the competition on price in an attempt to attract market share. The winner is the customer whenever competitors get involved in a pricing war, and this is the lowest price the Galaxy S III 16 GB model has seen in its short existence. The previous Galaxy handset, the Galaxy S II, has tabulated more than 50 million sales globally, and the GS III has thus far followed successfully in those footsteps, registering 20 million units sold in only its first 100 days offered.

The Samsung Galaxy S III is available at select online retailers for a reduced price now starting at 99.99.

The handset delivers the most out-of-the-box RAM memory of any smartphone, one of the highest resolution, and the largest displays available, Near Field Communications (NFC) connectivity out-of-the-box, and double the RAM memory found on most 4G smartphones. NFC access enables the GS III to wirelessly transfer play lists, applications and other data with either the Android Beam or Android S Beam applications, and wireless retail payment processing is accessed through apps like Google Wallet. The handset is offered in your choice of marble white or pebble blue, and the GS III’s Share Shot camera app allows you to create a temporary photo sharing network with other Galaxy S III handset owners.

In a statement last month, Samsung executives announced that the Galaxy S III was one of the handsets responsible for the company’s record operating profit of $7.3 billion in the July to September third quarter this year. In that third-quarter, Samsung shipped approximately twice the number of handsets as competitor Apple, and both those companies make up nearly half of the entire global smartphone marketplace according to research firm IDC. The Sprint Galaxy S III 4G Android smartphone delivers the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0 operating system out-of-the-box, and is wafer thin at 0.34 inches (8.6 mm).

The display on board the device is 4.80 inches, one of the largest found on any mobile handset, and that Super AMOLED screen renders visuals in more than 16 million colors. Pixel density is at the high-end compared to all smartphones, at 306 pixels per inch, and that bestows the display with an overall screen resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels, also at the high end of the mobile marketplace. A scratch resistant coating covers that display, and standard multitouch, capacitive gestures are used for device navigation.

The handset is capable of up to 12.0 hours of talk time from a single charge of the 2,100 mA battery on board, significantly better than the 8.0 hour industry average. The handset employs a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 microchip package, and it is built around a dual core Krait central processor that has been clocked at 1.5 GHz. A separate Adreno 225 chip focuses exclusively on processing all graphics requests, and the hardware package delivers a full 2.0 GB of RAM system memory. At 32 GB of built-in, out-of-the-box storage, the Galaxy S III for Sprint delivers the most out-of-the-box storage of any smartphone. A rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder delivers high resolution video capture at 1,080P HD, and the front facing chat cam offers video call support.
