With Near Field Communications (NFC) support for wireless applications like the Android S Beam data transfer app and retail payment processing Google Wallet, the Sprint Galaxy S III arrived on June 21 of this year. Originally delivering the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0 operating system, that handset has since been upgraded to the Jelly Bean 4.1 OS. Offering improvements in speed, less clutter on the Android home screens, and an improved Google Now, the interface and overall user experience is also much smoother and more intuitive. The 16 GB handset is currently retailing for under $50 on contract during the Amazon Wireless holiday sale.

The Samsung Galaxy S III For Sprint is available for a reduced holiday price now starting at $0.01.

At only 0.34 inches (8.6 mm) in thickness, and weighing only 4.70 ounces (130 g), the Galaxy S III 4G Android smartphone running on the Sprint 4G LTE system in the United States is slimmer and lighter than the typical 4G smartphone. That handset also delivers one of the largest screens, as well as a high-end display resolution. The 4.80 inch Super AMOLED display accepts the typical capacitive, multitouch gestures for device navigation, and is protected against wear and tear by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2.

Pixel density runs higher than most smartphones at 306 pixels per inch, and this gives that display an overall resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels. More than 16 million independent colors can be found on the display, with light and proximity sensors built in. The 2,100 mA battery on board the Galaxy S III can provide up to 9.20 hours from a single charge. Continuing in the hardware profile, we find a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 microchip package which is anchored by a dual core 1.5 GHz Krait CPU.

In that chip suite we also find a graphics dedicated Adreno 225 GPU, and 2.0 GB of RAM system memory is built-in, as is a generous 16 GB of storage (a 32 GB model is also offered). The Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III 4G also provides a microSD slot for storage expansion opportunities. The handset comes with Picasa, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube applications pre-installed, and the built-in music player on board the Sprint Galaxy S III delivers both a customizable and preset equalizer.

Low light camera operability is enhanced by a built-in LED flash and back illuminated sensor (BSI), and the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder is capable of simultaneous HD video and image capture. That rear snapper records video in 1,080P HD resolution and 30 frames per second, delivering autofocus, touch to focus, face and smile detection, a special effects package and extensive feature set. Up front is a built-in 1.9 megapixel chat cam, which offers the Sprint Galaxy S III user video call options as well as the capability of capturing portrait snapshots.

You can purchase the Samsung Galaxy S III for a discounted holiday price now starting at $0.01.
