The rabid consumer-electronics buying public in the United States has typically become trained as to the value of any particular product as it relates to its price tag. That generally makes sense, as products with more popular features and better performance are usually more expensive to make, thereby demanding a higher price tag. That is not the case for the 16 GB Galaxy S III for Sprint during the Amazon wireless store Cyber Monday Deals Week, where that model retails for under $30 on contract.

The Samsung Galaxy S III for Sprint is available at a reduced price now starting at $49.99.

Cyber Monday is a term online retailers have given to the first Monday after Thanksgiving in the United States (November 26), where multiple Internet stores offer limited quantities and 24 hour specials. This is the online version of the crazy Black Friday shopping madness that happens every year the day following Thanksgiving, and Amazon annually continues their cyber specials the entire week rather than simply on Cyber Monday.

The popular Galaxy S III is arguably the hottest phone on the planet right now, and the Sprint version runs on their brand-new 4G LTE system in the United States. Released on June 21 of this year, that handset delivers the new Jelly Bean 4.1 Android operating system, wrapped with the TouchWiz UX UI by Samsung. The Sprint Galaxy S III would make Popeye’s Olive Oil jealous with its skinny 0.34 inch (8.6 mm) profile, and the phone is light as well, weighing 4.70 ounces (133 g).

The 4.0 inch Super AMOLED display is one of the largest found on any smartphone, and is protected against everyday wear and tear with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2. Pixel density runs to the high end of the mobile marketplace at 306 pixels per inch, giving the display an overall resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels. 16 million colors are present on that display, and battery conserving light and proximity sensors help the battery on board the Sprint Galaxy S III offer up to 12.0 hours of talk time from a single charge.

A powerful dual core 1.5 GHz central processor and Adreno 225 graphics processing chip are on board the hardware package, and the Sprint Galaxy S III delivers 2.0 GB of RAM system memory, double the smartphone average. The handset is also offered in a 32 GB model, and both 16 GB and 32 GB versions include a microSD slot for storage expansion. The 8.0 megapixel camcorder on the back of the handset provides simultaneous HD image and video capture, recording video in 1,080 P HD resolution. A front facing chat cam is also on board, and the handset can function as a central Wi-Fi hub for multiple wireless devices.

You can purchase the Samsung Galaxy S III for Sprint now starting at $49.99.
