The Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G Android smartphone exploded onto the scene late last year as the first handset to deliver the much-anticipated Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) Android 4.0 operating system to a US handset. Verizon Wireless was the lucky recipient of what was an immediate bestseller, and the phone has been a flagship offering for Verizon ever since. Up until recently, Verizon was the exclusive home of the full-featured Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G, but Sprint just recently released the same device on their 4G network.

Verizon attempted to undercut Sprint by lowering their handset to $49 while Sprint was selling the identical device for $149. Sprint recently leveled the playing field, and made the Sprint Galaxy Nexus an equally attractive Android offering, by dropping the retail price to $49  at select Sprint authorized online retailers.

The Sprint Galaxy Nexus delivers one of the largest screens in the entire 4G smartphone marketplace, a fast processor, the most built-in storage of any 4G handset, and an extremely high resolution screen. Sprint’s growing 4G LTE network is set to be completed by the end of the summer, at which point Sprint claims it will be the largest in the United States.

With backwards compatibility to 3G, Sprint Galaxy Nexus customers will never lose a high-speed connection, and Google’s Android ICS operating system benefits from Google integration with Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk and Picasa pre-installed The 4.65 inch Super AMOLED screen on the Sprint Galaxy Nexus delivers a high resolution pixel density of 316 pixels per inch, for an overall screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. That visual display is rendered in more than 16 million unique colors, and a scratch resistant layer of treatment protects the screen.

A graphics dedicated chip allows the central processor to focus on handling your requests, and that leads to speeds up to 1.2 GHz from the dual core CPU. A full 1.0 GB of RAM memory is on board, and the 32 GB of built-in, user accessible storage leads the 4G field. A front facing 1.3 megapixel chat cam also provides video call support, and the ability to capture portrait snapshots.
