galaxynote3The Android 4.4 KitKat OS update heading to the Galaxy Note 3 and S4 smartphones in France has been delayed, according to the French carrier SFR. The carrier announced the rollout for mid-to-late January, and there is no sign or announcement of its arrival thus far. However, leaked information shows that Samsung is aiming for a release across its flagship phones of Android 4.4 in January, so there is still time for the French carrier and US Galaxy Note 3 handset owners to step up to KitKat over the next couple of weeks.

SFR is one of a very limited number of carriers around the world that is open and forthcoming about operating system and software updates, and when they made the announcement after Samsung had also discussed a January KitKat release, Samsung Android handset owners began to get excited. It is still entirely possible that SFR will release on time, and that is a good thing because operating system versions released by Android generally start in Europe and overseas and then head to the United States and Canada.

Even so, a February release of Android 4.4 for the Galaxy Note 3 smartphone will probably not ruffle too many feathers. The handset itself works perfectly fine on Jelly Bean 4.3, and with one of the largest displays and best battery performances of any phone ever designed, the Galaxy Note 3 has been popular regardless what operating system it is running on. Arriving in September of last year, the Note 3 recently saw a price reduction at the Amazon Wireless store online, and is the first wireless device to deliver a full 3.0 GB of RAM memory.

Multiple voice control and consumer electronic remote control operations are built into the handset, which measures a slim 8.3 mm (0.33 inches) in thickness. The 5.70 inch Super AMOLED screen delivers a pixel density of 386 ppi, giving the Note 3 a Full HD resolution at 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. A third generation of Gorilla Glass protects the third generation Galaxy Note, which uses an extended life 3,200 mA battery to deliver a full 25.0 hours all-around usage from a single battery charge, more than double the industry average.

The phone runs on a powerful Snapdragon 800 quad core CPU which has been clocked at 2.3 GHz, and graphics are provided by a versatile Adreno 330 GPU. 32 GB of storage is present, as is a microSD slot for expansion. Built into the back of the handset is its main camera, a 13.0 megapixel shooter with digital image stabilization, a multishot burst mode, digital zoom and several special effects and customization features. This is one of the only phones you will find with 4K video recording capability, and the Galaxy Note 3 also offers a front facing chat cam.
