When Nokia released the Nokia Lumia 710 last year to start its bid of becoming relevant again in the smartphone competition, little did the Finnish company know that its strategic partnership with software giant Microsoft will bear the fruits that it desires – which is to become a force to be reckoned with again in the smartphone market. Looking back, the company was relegated to second class status when the likes of Apple, Samsung, HTC and the like started dominating the smartphone market while Nokia had to take the back seat for the meantime.
However, this is not to last very long when Nokia started flooding the market with its Lumia Line of devices. The Nokia Lumia 710 in particular received glowing comments from reviewers and was at a time always in the top three of T-Mobile’s bestsellers list. In fact, Nokia big boss Stephen Elop even boasted at Mobile World Congress back in February that they are happy with the performance of their comeback handset in US shores and that the Nokia Lumia 710 managed to exceed all their expectations.
As for the T-Mobile version of the handset, it was rumored that the Nokia Lumia 710 will receive the update that will crank up its software version to Tango last June 20 but since the date has come and gone, the rumors obviously did not pan out. The source of the rumor is a leaked screenshot of an internal T-Mobile memorandum but obviously, the information contained there was erroneous at best.
Just recently however, a second leaked internal T-Mobile memo (again!) surfaced and this time around, the memo points to June 27 as the date that the Windows Phone Refresh Tango will finally land on the T-Mobile version of the Nokia Lumia 710.
If you want to take advantage of the update, all you need to do is to hook up your Nokia Lumia 710 to your computer and fire the Zune software to get the update process rolling. As previously confirmed, the said Windows Phone Refresh Tango update will bring a lot of treats and goodies to the handset and the most notable among these is that the Nokia Lumia 710 will have Mobile Hotspot functionality once the update is applied to the smartphone. In addition to that, the update is also expected to get rid of the disappearing keyboard issue that has been plaguing the device for quite some time now. The update will also take care of the stuck unlock screen issue on the Nokia Lumia 710 and bring improvements to the software stability, proximity sensor, camera quality and uplink speed of the handset.
Hopefully, this time around the Windows Phone Refresh Tango update will finally land on the Nokia Lumia 710 as users of the handset cannot afford more delays in giving their smartphones that much-awaited Tango update.
