Last September there were rumors that HTC was building one powerful smartphone. The HTC Droid DNA 4G did not arrive until November of 2012, and it effectively made that smartphone manufacturer competitive with Samsung and Apple for the first time. HTC designers and engineers appear to have gone about their mad scientist smartphone laboratory, grabbing every high-end, high-flying piece of hardware and software they could get their hands on, and including it in the Droid DNA 4G construction.
The HTC Droid DNA 4G is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $49.99.
Offering some impressive DNA, the 4G LTE capable handset running on Verizon’s network in the United States ships with the Jelly Bean 4.1.2 operating system, delivers double the amount of RAM memory for the average smartphone, and also offers the exclusive Beats Audio sound enhancement package. Beats uses dedicated speaker and headset amplifiers to boost the audio signal, and it joins a YouTube video player and built-in music player in the handset’s multimedia package.
The handset is also visually unique, in that it is built with a tough polycarbonate unibody and seamless laminated screen. This helps eliminate reflection and makes viewing at extreme angles enjoyable, and the distinctive red side grills and ultra-matte finish make for a sleek appearance. The phone is also slim and light considering it delivers a large 5.0 inch display, and the Droid DNA 4G measures just 0.38 inches (9.73 mm) in thickness. The light phone weighs just 4.87 ounces (138 g),and both pixel density and resolution outperform nearly every other smartphone.
A pixel density of 441 pixels per inch is delivered on the Droid DNA handset, and that means a Full HD designation for the 5.0 inch ImageChip ISP S-LCD 3 display. Whatever you are viewing on that screen can be mirrored on an external HDTV or monitor with the HDMI video out connection, and resolution runs 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. More than 16 million separate colors can be found on that display, which is protected against normal wear and tear, scratching and chipping by a layer of Gorilla Glass 2.
Up to 12.6 hours of talking time is provided by a full battery charge on the Verizon 4G LTE network, and the system chip powering the handset is a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 model. A quad core 1.5 GHz CPU joins an Adreno 320 graphics processor in the handset’s hardware package, which also includes a generous 2.0 GB of RAM memory and 16 GB of built-in closet space. The rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder provides a special effects package and multiple customization and high-end camera features, and records video in 1,080P HD resolution.
The HTC Droid DNA 4G can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $49.99.
