Verizon has recently announced a monthly online game subscription for Android phones. This new program, called GameTanium, can only be availed by Verizon users. For only $ 5.99/month/device, you can get access to the top 100 Android games and 50 Android tablet games.  This new system makes it easier for a user by offering him a one-stop destination for the top games. You needn’t spend money endlessly on an app and find you don’t like it afterwards. For this small amount, you can get access to all the top application games. With an easy-to-use interface, rich game imagery and the option of putting parental control settings, how can one not want to opt for this?

Well, sadly, there are a couple of setbacks to this deal. Google Play tends to have the best updated apps. What does this mean? If a developer updates an app, a Google Play user is the first to get it, followed by members of the Amazon Appstore, which, let’s face it, cannot compare to the Google Play. So what about Verizon? For starters, they rarely update their applications, and if they do, it’s not the same version as found on Google Play. Verizon’s ‘updated’ apps tend to be many versions behind and therefore outdated as compared to the latter’s apps. This holds true for basic apps like Skype as well.

A plus point is that you can subscribe for individual apps if you like, and update them manually when you feel like. Whether GameTanium is a success still remains to be seen. Verizon users can download the GameTanium tablet and smartphone apps from the Verizon online store. This app has been designed to run on over thirty smartphones, and two tablets, including the Motorola Droid and the HTC Droid Incredible 4G. Consumers can feel free to check out the free trial version that Verizon is offering. This trial period will last for three days. After that, if they do wish to subscribe, a charge of $5.99 will be added to their monthly bill. This deal also requires you to sign up for a Verizon Wireless data plan.

Note that the GameTanium is not available on the Verizon section of Google Play. You can find it in the new apps section on the Verizon site. For Verizon gamers, this could be a great deal. For about six dollars a month, you can get all the high-end gaming apps that you desire. If Verizon manages to update its apps fast enough, it should be worth downloading!
