galaxynote3Big Red has unfortunately developed a reputation for delivering updates slower than other wireless carriers. That is generally because Verizon has made a point of stating that they test over the air updates, software and firmware upgrades intensively before releasing them. This is actually a good thing, because they are ensuring that a particular update will work perfectly on your device before they send it to your handset.

You can purchase the Samsung Galaxy Note III at a reduced price tag stating at $169.

This week though, Verizon has uncharacteristically beat its wireless carrier competition to the punch, by delivering an update to the bestselling Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphone/tablet before any other carrier. Carrying on the tradition of getting bigger and bigger after analysts said the original Galaxy Note was too big to be a viable consumer-electronics purchase, the Galaxy Note 3 not only outsizes its two predecessors in display size, but it recently crushed the sales numbers by both of those popular big-screen phablets.

The original Galaxy Note arrived on the scene with a massive 5.3 inch display, achieving 5 million units in global sales in its first 5 months of availability. Many handsets do not ever reach 5 million sales in their lifetime, so this was a wonderful achievement for the mobile handset which helped create the term “phablet”. The large 5.55 inch display on the Galaxy Note II made the handset larger overall, as well as the screen size obviously, and that phone managed 5 million units in sales in just its first 2 months of availability.

However, this third generation Galaxy Note 4G smartphone/tablet has rocketed to a full 5 million units sold around the world in just 30 days of availability. And while the display has improved in size to 5.70 inches, the handset is actually smaller than the Galaxy Note II. Samsung developers made the overall size smaller by decreasing the bezel size surrounding the display, so overall dimensions are actually more attractive than the previous Galaxy Note smartphone.

The Verizon software update addresses connectivity and sound issues that a few Galaxy Note 3 owners reported, and it is nice to see Verizon continue its recent performance of delivering timely software updates. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 running on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the United States, the largest such network in North America, was recently reduced in retail price to $199 on contract. This is the first mobile device to offer 3.0 GB of RAM system memory, and is powered by a speedy Snapdragon 800 quad core central processor clocked at an unprecedented 2.3 GHz per second. You can purchase the Galaxy Note 3 at a discounted purchase price starting at $169.
