The Galaxy Note II, the successor to the original Samsung Galaxy Note phablet, was announced last August 29 but we already know that the massive device will surely hit the shelves of all major carriers in US shores – we just don’t know when. During the unveiling, the Korean electronics giant promised that the Samsung Galaxy Note II will make it to the shelves in our side of the world “before the holidays” but that is a pretty big window when you come to think of it. However, it looks like the time frame for the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy Note II to US shelves has been trimmed down a bit.

That being said, Samsung has already announced that it will hold an event in New York on October 24 and the invitation that got sent out to members of the press pretty much discloses what the center of attention will be. Though the invitation does not clearly state that the Samsung Galaxy Note II will be the topic of discussion, it is quite obvious based on the stylus pictured on the invitation itself. This hasn’t been confirmed yet but if everything pans out, by October 24, we will already know as to when exactly the second generation Samsung phablet will make its debut in US shelves.

With the Samsung Galaxy Note II hitting the shelves in US shores, it could join the Samsung Galaxy S III there and the two superphones could prove to be a potent one-two punch for the Korean smartphone and tablet manufacturer. After all, both devices come with impressive specs and capabilities for that matter.

As for the Samsung Galaxy Note II, there is a lot of anticipation for its arrival unlike in the case of its predecessor. Looking back, the original Galaxy Note was the first niche device released by Samsung and it took a little time for our smartphone-crazed brethren to get used to its bulk and heft. It still became a hit though after the smartphone-buying population realized the advantages of its massive screen real estate. The Samsung Galaxy Note II does not have to contend with doubters though – the fact that its predecessor became a big hit means that this bad boy is also destined for greater things. And the fact that its specs sheet is very impressive doesn’t hurt either.

The Samsung Galaxy Note II is expected to launch with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for its operating system and this will be powered by an Exynos 4412 Quad chipset with a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 1.6 GHz and 2GB of RAM. It will be released in models ranging from 16GB to as much as 64GB in terms of onboard storage but a user still has the option to add more storage using its memory expansion slot. The display of the Samsung Galaxy Note II is much bigger than its predecessor and it measures 5.5 inches diagonally and is of the SuperAMOLED HD variety with a 1280 x 720 resolution. Its camera department is identical to that of the Galaxy S III with its rear 8MP shooter and front 1.9MP snapper.
