galaxymegaMost of the attention from the Samsung line of devices is going to be taken up by the Galaxy Note 3 these days, but there is one device that the company makes that is actually larger than the 5.7-inch Note 3.  That device was released before the Note 3 and comes with the name, Galaxy Mega.  The Mega is a huge phablet device that has a touch screen display that measures 6.3-inches making it one of the largest on the market that is not a tablet.  According to recent information, a regional mobile carrier is about to start offering the device to its customers.

The Samsung Galaxy S 4 Black Mist is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $89.

MetroPCS announced that the device would be ready to ship sooner than later since it is already available on the AT&T network.  It could also arrive on the T-Mobile network as expected since they just purchased the MetroPCS company a month or more ago.  The Samsung Galaxy Mega is by far the largest smartphone that MetroPCS offers to its customers.  The specs are more mid-range than you might think, but nevertheless it will impress users right away with the display size.  The Galaxy Mega comes with a 6.3-inch display, but is stuck with a 720p HD resolution, compared to the 1080p HD resolution on the Galaxy Note 3.

MetroPCS would like to offer the larger device for those that are on a budget and while the Mega might be called the “poor man’s Galaxy Note 3”, but it really comes down to what you want and expect from your smartphone.  The Mega only offers a dual-core processor, but even that will get you around the device fast enough.  The back side features the 8MP camera sensor, the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software will come pre-loaded and the 3,200mAh battery should keep that huge display going for hours.

MetroPCS has not announced the Mega officially at this time, but the odds are very good that it will be soon considering the fact that leaked images of the device with MetroPCS branding have already been shown online.  Some might be wondering why Samsung would release such a large smartphone with mid-range specs when it has the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3 already on the market, but the reason is likely so that it can cover the small area between the two devices with one that is affordable for everyone.

The Samsung Galaxy S 4 Black Mist can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $89.
