lgoptimusgThe LG Optimus G released in mid November of last year on the Sprint 4G LTE system in the United States. In a sleek black chassis, the LG Optimus G delivers a large high-resolution screen, powerful quad core processor and ample built-in storage for your applications and downloads. The handset also offers a battery conservation profile, which includes a customizable Power Saver feature and intelligent Eco Mode. The Sprint LG Optimus G was recently discovered at the Amazon Wireless store online, sporting the bargain bin price tag of $49 on contract.

Bearing all the popular Google services like Chrome, Car Home, Maps with Navigation, Search, Gmail, and Shopper, the Sprint Optimus G runs on the brand-new Sprint 4G LTE system which debuted at the end of last year. Sprint has included their popular Sprint ID service which allows you to customize the Optimus G with particular ID packages that contain preselected apps, widgets and other items. If you are a music lover you can choose the Country Music Television application or the MTV ID pack. ESPN has its own ID pack, and there is even a Fantasy Football ID profile, with 59 ID packs in all.

The Power Saver feature mentioned above automatically adjusts your Optimus G settings as soon as battery life falls below 30% of maximum. You can also choose which settings Power Saver adjusts by customizing the feature from your settings panel. And the handset also has two different operating modes to choose from. In standard mode, all four of the quad core processing cores are employed, using whatever is needed to complete your current operation or task. You can however set the handset to Eco Mode which drastically preserves battery power by operating on only 2 of the CPU’s 4 cores.

This helps the slim LG Optimus G deliver a full 13.0 hours of talk time from a single battery charge, markedly higher than the industry average of 8.0 hours for a 4G smartphone. The handset is slim at 0.33 inches (8.45 mm), despite the large 4.70 inch True HD IPS+ Touch Hybrid Display. Resolution runs 1,280 x 760 pixels, and pixel density is high at 318 pixels per inch. That display is protected against incidental scratches and chips with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass.

The CPU is a quad core 1.5 GHz Krait processor, which joins an Adreno 320 graphics processor in the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 microchip package. 2.0 GB of RAM system memory is installed, as is 32 GB of built-in storage. The 13.0 megapixel camcorder comes with voice activated features, recording video in 1,080P HD resolution. A front facing chat cam is also on board, and the built-in music player with Dolby Mobile sound enhancement joins a YouTube video player in the handset’s multimedia package.
