gs4In the Google Nexus 5, some minor battery issues have accompanied the update to Android’s KitKat 4.4.2 operating system. Why is that good news for Samsung Galaxy S4 owners and shoppers? Simply put, phones like the Verizon Galaxy S4, one of the most popular selling smartphones of 2013 and early 2014, will have access to the 4.4.3 update, even if Google is creating it to address issues on other smartphones. Android’s 4.4 OS hit TouchWiz variations of the bestselling Galaxy S4 earlier this year, after hitting the Google Play Galaxy S4 model late last year. Better security, a full-screen mode and new Google Hangouts were delivered with Android 4.4 as the globally supported Galaxy S4 heads toward its one year anniversary. By using a polycarbonate design, Samsung was able to create a slimmer and lighter smartphone that competitors like Apple, while also ensuring durability.

And when the Samsung ad campaign released in the first part of 2013 highlighting the hands-free and voice-free command capabilities of the phone, Galaxy S4 sales exploded on launch. A recent check online found the Galaxy S4 smartphone offered by the Amazon Wireless store at a discounted sale price running on the Verizon 4G LTE network in the United States.

Multiple wireless connectivity options are included, like Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, Wireless N Wi-Fi and infrared. An updated television programming feature allows for remote operation of HDTV sets, with the eyeball tracking technology found in the video watching capability of the phone also providing Smart Scroll support. By simply tilting the orientation of your display in reference to your gaze, this feature allows you to scroll up and down through your browser or e-mails without touching your screen or using verbal commands.

The slim stature mentioned earlier measures 7.9 mm (0.31 inches), and the phone is also light at 130 g (4.59 ounces). A large 5.0 inch Super AMOLED screen offers capacitive, multitouch gesture support, with an extremely high pixel density delivering 441 color pixels over each inch of display space. A Full HD designation is delivered by the 1,080 x 1,920 pixel resolution. Run time is generous at 17.0 hours after a full battery charge, as is RAM memory at 2.0 GB. The quad core Snapdragon 600 processor has been clocked at a speedy 1.9 GHz, with a microSD slot complementing the 16 GB of onboard storage.

  1. I have plans of changing from iPhone 5c to a Galaxy S4 T=Mobile. Will I be buying a phone that is full of bugs and need many fixes out of the box? Does the HTC One have fewer bugs? I am really sold on the GS4, but not if it is full of issues right out of the box.
