The Amazon Wireless store is one of the most popular online purchasing spots for smartphones. And currently the Sprint, Verizon and AT&T Galaxy S4 handsets with 16 GB of onboard storage are being offered beginning at the discounted sale price of $49 on contract by that retailer. No word from Amazon if this is a time limited sale or a new retail price, but it has appeared as the Galaxy S4 approaches its one year anniversary. Announced in March of last year, the Galaxy S4 smartphone is available for multiple wireless carriers in the United States, and has been one of the top-selling mobile handsets globally over the past year.
With a slim 7.9 mm (0.31 inch) profile and a weight of just 130 g (4.59 ounces), the phone is much lighter and thinner than the typical dumb or smartphone. And inside that slim and light form factor is a hardware and software package which has made the Galaxy S4 extremely useful, fun and popular. The polycarbonate body allows for exceptionally light weight while also providing excellent durability, as proven by multiple torture tests where the handset outperformed heavier Apple smartphones.
Delivering a comprehensive mobile security package which separates personal and business data, the Galaxy S4 is probably best known for its delivery of hands-free and voice-free manipulation. With a simple wave of your hand above the display you can answer an incoming call, and you can hover your fingertips just above the screen for preview information. An Adreno 320 graphics processor is also present, as is 2.0 GB of RAM memory and 16 GB of built-in data storage. A microSD slot provides additional storage opportunities, supporting external cards up to 64 GB in size.
The camera alluded to earlier includes 12 preset shooting modes, with a dual video call functionality allowing in you to make and receive video calls while sharing with your listener just what you are watching during the call. An LED flash and back illuminated sensor (BSI) offer excellent low light operation, and a wide range of special effects and customization options are on board. That rear facing snapper records video in Full HD 1,080P resolution, and a 2.0 megapixel chat cam has also been included on the front of the handset.
