When the Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G arrived on Sprint’s doorstep earlier this year, the handset ran on their 3G system. And as the first handset to ever deliver the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0 Android operating system to a smartphone in the US, that OS was also on board. Fast forward to the 2012 holiday shopping season, and the Galaxy Nexus 4G receives a holiday present of a $19 on contract sale price, as well as the Jelly Bean 4.1 Android operating system update.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus for Sprint is available for a reduced holiday price now starting at $99.99.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus also benefits by an upgrade by Sprint to their first ever 4G LTE network. That speedy 4G LTE system should be running on at least 100 major market in the United States by the end of 2012, and finally gives the slim but powerful Galaxy Nexus 4G a respectable wireless network where it can fully harness its speedy 1.2 GHz dual core processor, 1.0 GB of RAM system memory, and the most out-of-the-box, built-in data storage of any smartphone at 32 GB.

When it arrived last year the Galaxy Nexus 4G was exceptionally thin at 0.37 inches (9.47 mm), and still ranks as one of the skinniest smartphones available. The high-resolution screen delivers a high-end pixel density of 316 pixels per inch, creating an overall display resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels. That Super AMOLED touchscreen accepts capacitive, multitouch gestures for device navigation, and over 16 million individual colors are present on that display. The screen is also durable, protected by a scratch resistant display overlay.

Stretching battery life as far as possible is the onboard proximity sensor, which dims the display when you make or receive a voice call. The built-in light sensor automatically takes into account the amount of ambient light hitting your screen, then adjusts your display for the best possible viewing experience. In the hardware package on board the Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G, a Texas Instruments OMAP 4460 group of microchips is present, including a PowerVR SGX540 GPU which focuses exclusively on rendering graphics.

With Picasa and YouTube applications pre-installed the Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G delivers access to popular social networking sites, and a VGA quality chat cam is built into the front of the handset, offering video call support. Integrated into the back of the phone is a 5.0 megapixel camcorder, delivering an LED flash, autofocus and panorama mode, with a special effects package. That rear snapper is capable of recording video in a high resolution 1,080P HD and 30 frames per second, and the Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G delivers Near Field Communications (NFC)support out-of-the-box.

You can purchase the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for Sprint for a discounted price tag now starting at $99.99.
