Sprint is really beefing up its lineup of LTE-supporting handsets with the addition of the Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE to its stable of Android-powered smartphones in preparation of lighting up its LTE network later this year. The device which the wireless carrier officially unveiled back in April was confirmed to hit the shelves this May 18 but there have been developments that will preclude the wireless provider in releasing the Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE to the market on the said date.
The release of the Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE has now been confirmed to be delayed and the manufacturer of the handset already released a statement regarding the matter. According to the Taiwanese smartphone and tablet manufacturer, there happens to be an ITC exclusion order that will require US Customs to review the shipments of the handsets which led to the delay of the availability of the Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE in the shelves of the wireless provider. This ITC exclusion order was put in place when HTC was accused of infringing on 10 Apple patents. In addition to that, HTC confirmed that they have complied with the ruling and is working closely with the government agency to secure approval.
Sad to say, there has been no solid word regarding the outcome of this situation and neither Sprint nor HTC could give out an exact time frame as to when the approved in addition to the exact date that the Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE can be expected to make its appearance in the shelves of the wireless provider. In fact, Sprint has decided to place the preorders for the handset on hold because of this. Best Buy however intimated that the Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE will become available come May 23 but has already changed its mind in light of the recent developments and has announced that the handset has been delayed indefinitely.
All in all, we sincerely hope that both Sprint and HTC can find a way out of this mess because a lot of Sprint customers are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE.
