A couple of months back, AdDuplex released a report that indicated that the Verizon Nokia Lumia 822 had a stronger position in the Windows Phone market compared to the Nokia Lumia 920 released by AT&T in our side of the world. The report was a little surprising given the fact that the Nokia Lumia 920 is the current flagship device of the Finnish smartphone manufacturer for the Windows Phone ecosystem while the Nokia Lumia 822 is more of a mere mid-range handset.

However, it looks like the tables have been turned because in just a matter of time, the Nokia Lumia 920 has already crept up and taken the top spot (where it belongs given its flagship status). Based on the most recent numbers, the Nokia Lumia 920 is now at the top of the list. The report however not only shows the rankings but some interesting tidbits as well.

The data by the way came from applications for the Windows Phone platform that made use of the AdDuplex SDK and a sample of nearly 500 applications was used in the study. And to make it more interesting, the data came from all over, not only from the US but from other countries such as Australia, China and some in Europe as well.

According to the report, though the Nokia Lumia 920 has exhibited a strong showing, it is now always the handset at the top of the list in some countries. In France for example, the HTC Windows Phone 8S is number one with a huge margin over the Nokia Lumia 920. This is also the case in Ukraine and Italy where the Nokia flagship is just second fiddle. In our side of the world, the Nokia Lumia 822 is still at the top spot despite the fact that AT&T has had a dominant position among subscribers into the Windows Phone platform.

As expected, the Finnish smartphone manufacturer still has domination of the overall global market for the Windows Phone platform and currently has a market share of 80%. It is best to remember however that the market for the platform is relatively small (but growing little by little) and it would be interesting to see the next report from AdDuplex especially that Nokia is set to launch the Lumia 720 and Lumia 520 this spring.

Going back to the Nokia Lumia 920, the handset brings an impressive resume to the market. Running Windows Phone 8 for its operating system, the operation of the handset is powered by a QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset which brings in to play a dual-core 105 GHz Krait processor and a full gigabyte of RAM. The storage space onboard the handset is very generous at 32GB but this is all you get because the handset doesn’t support memory expansion. In terms of its display, the Nokia Lumia 920 sports a 4.5-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels while its camera department features a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP video call and self-portrait snapper.
