When Nokia entered into a strategic alliance with software giant Microsoft, the Finnish smartphone manufacturer became relevant again in the smartphone market. Looking back, Nokia was one of the top smartphone manufacturers in the past but had to take the back seat when manufacturers such as Apple, Samsung, HTC and the like started taking over the smartphone market. Now that Nokia is again manufacturing smartphones for the Windows Phone platform, the company has again become a force to be reckoned with in the smartphone  competition.

The biggest success of Nokia so far is the release of the Nokia Lumia 900. The handset is the current flagship device of the company and it was released back in April. From day one, the Nokia Lumia 900 has exhibited its popularity when it immediately shot up to the top of the smartphone leaderboards and snagged the top and third spots in an AT&T-authorized retailer’s list of bestselling device on its launch day. The mere fact that the Nokia Lumia 900 managed to do that on the day it made its debut in the shelves is a testament to the impressive capabilities of the handset but doing so on Easter Sunday, which obviously fell on a Sunday, speaks heaps about the warm reception the handset received from the smartphone-buying population.

At that time, several analysts pointed to the attention-grabbing colorways of the Nokia Lumia 900 as the reason for the popularity of the handset. This is said to be the case because most of our smartphone-crazed brethren are already tired of the very common ugly black slab of plastic design aesthetic found in most handsets today and getting a handset in a cyan, glossy white, matte black paint job is very refreshing indeed.

Aside from the available colorways of the Nokia Lumia 900 today, it has been teased repetitively in the past that the handset will also be made available in a magenta paint job. The magenta Nokia Lumia 900 was supposed to launch last Mother’s Day but that never came to be. However, there are several indications that the handset in the said magenta colorway is about to get released. The evidence comes from Nokia’s servers where a magenta ROM for the Nokia Lumia 900 was found. The name of the ROM is RM-808 VAR ATT Magenta (059N3B9) and is basically the same ROM found in the glossy white, matte back and cyan versions of the handset.

There has been no official word from AT&T as of yet regarding the availability of the magenta version of the handset but this is a big sign that the wireless provider could release this variant of the Nokia Lumia 900 any day now. Hopefully, AT&T doesn’t take too long in lining up its shelves with the said variant of the smartphone as the ladies of the smartphone-buying population will have a grand time rocking a version of the Nokia Lumia 900 in a magenta paint job.  Buy the Nokia Lumia 900 starting at one penny!

  1. Let’s hope they give it away..As we know in just a couple month’s 7.5 or 7.8 will be it for these phones.

It is already obsolete with a small update coming only.

  2. Larry, IOS and Android are obsolete OS. Even the the first Samsung Windows Phone will be more modern then the GSIII. Even the first Samsung gets the 7.8 update :-)
