kitkatandroidThose of you with the Galaxy Note 2 from Samsung can sleep easy finally knowing the Android 4.4 KitKat update is about to arrive.  Samsung has confirmed that the update will be coming to the device and now it is just a matter of when and what users can expect when the update shows up.  Most of the major mobile carriers in the United States have been silent about the update, but over the last few weeks there has been a few details leaked regarding what users can expect when the update is ready for download on your network.

Right now all of the information is related to mobile carriers that are overseas, but that is just the first stop for an update before it arrives in the United States.  According to one online source, there is some information detailed within a GFX benchmark test that was done on the SHV-E250, which is the Korean version of the Galaxy Note 2.  Another mobile carrier in Australia and one in France have also confirmed the update is ready to roll out so it will only be a matter of time before Samsung announces the United States release date.

Overseas it looks like the update could arrive as early the middle of April through the end of May so at least there is some sort of timeline.  Sprint is typically one of the first mobile carriers to make an announcement about updates coming to smartphones on their network and that was the case this time around.  A lot of times, mobile carriers will keep quiet right up until the actual day the update notification pops up on your phone.  This update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will bring the brand new Android 4.4 KitKat software to the device and that is about it.

According to sources, there is not that much else for users to expect, but moving up to the Android 4.4 KitKat software is still a nice jump for those that have the popular phablet device.  Those that have the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy S4 have been getting the update notifications for the new Android software for weeks now and things have been going very well so far.  Those with the older Galaxy S3 are also expected to be getting the same update at the same time as the Galaxy Note 2.

  1. About $600 for my note 14 months ago. Is a Google phone the only way to go to get fair treatment for updates?
