Motorola has released a series of videos showcasing how the latest version of Android, Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich will look on the Motorola RAZR Maxx and Motorola RAZR devices. Though some users have installed custom ROMs onto their devices, the official benefits of Ice Cream Sandwich will be available to the users of these two devices by the end of June.

One of the major changes that can be seen in the new update for the devices is the new lock screen. The swipe enables the user to directly enter the phone, text messaging and the camera; essentially four different elements along with the conventional home screen. This is two more options on the custom version of the OS for Motorola devices when compared to the stock variant of ICS which just has the camera and unlock function. Another upgrade to the lock screen is the ability to control the music right from the lock screen without actually having to unlock the device. You can skip tracks, play or pause music with the buttons on the lock screen.

Rather than having just four icons in the favorites tray at the lower end of the home screen, the Motorola flavor of ICS will have five icons – camera, messages, people, phone and an apps button which will display a list of all apps on the device. The window indicator at the lower end of the phone will not be permanently visible and will only show up momentarily. The notification bar has also undergone a change with a new battery icon coming into the picture which uses as many as 13 various graphic levels to indicate the battery level on the phone and estimated juice remaining.

Taking screenshots on the new device has also been simplified as the user just needs to hold the power button and the volume down button simultaneously for a few moments. A quick preview of the image will be displayed, which will then be stored in the phone gallery.

The camera app on the device has also undergone an update with the users now having the ability to take images while taking videos at the same time. Another upgrade is the time lapse feature which will allows taking of pictures automatically in intervals which vary from one to ten seconds.
