motoroladvxThere has been some talk about the Moto X having a little brother that is going to come at a lower cost to consumers, at least according to the CEO of Motorola.  Last month, the CEO had tested the lower cost version of the Moto X, but the company has not said much since that day.  According to some images that were pulled from the FCC, the device has a name and according to the reports online, it is the Motorola DVX.  The listing with the FCC was noticed by a user on the Reddit website and it contains a device that looks very similar to the Moto X.

There are a couple of tweaks that could suggest that it is actually the lower cost version of the Moto X, including rounded corners, a centered rear camera and flash with a Motorola logo on the back.  All of those features can be found on the Moto X as well.  One thing that the DVX features is a speaker which has been moved to the other side of the camera on the front side.  The front facing camera is also located on the opposite side of the phone earpiece.

The model number listed by the FCC is “IHDT56PF1” and includes supports for 850/1900MHz GSM bands and HSPA.  It does not appear to have been tested with support for LTE networks, which is similar to other lower cost devices on the market today that are stuck with 3G support.  Another model, with a slightly different model number showed up in the FCC as well and has been rumored to be the Sprint version of the device.  Recent rumors suggest that Republic Wireless will be launching the Motorola DVX on its pre-paid network soon.

There have not been many words reported about the specs of the Motorola DVX, but for the most part, consumers can expect something very similar to the Moto X, only with watered down specs like slower processor, smaller camera and of course, no 4G LTE support.  It could even come with less internal memory and smaller display than the one on the Moto X which is 4.7-inches.  Unfortunately for consumes that is the way it goes with lower cost smartphones on the market, but at least users are able to get into the smartphone game without having to spend too much.
