If you like the high end feature set of the Motorola Droid Razr 4G handset, but would like more battery life, Motorola has just the device for you. They designed their new Droid Razr Maxx Android handset to provide nearly triple the average 4G smartphone talk time from a single charge, while keeping the same exact feature set found in the Droid Razr. Achieving 4G best numbers in both single-charge run time and out-of-the-box storage, the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx is exclusive to the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system at a retail price of $229 at select Verizon authorized retailers with standard data plan and two-year commitment.

Surprisingly, even though they made the battery 85% bigger, the handset is not overly bulky or heavy. The Droid Razr Maxx measures 5.15 x 2.71 x 0.35 inches (130.7 x 68.9 x 8.99 mm), and weighs 5.11 ounces (145 g). The display on board is 4.30 inches, and an above average 256 pixels per inch creates an overall screen resolution of 540 x 960 pixels on the Super AMOLED display. That capacitive, multitouch display on the Droid Razr Maxx is protected by an overlay of scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass.

The talk time delivered from a single charge of the oversized 3,300 mAh cell reaches 21.50 hours, and standby time is equal to the 4G smartphone average of 16 days. The Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 microchip set on board is one commonly used in Tablet PCs, and contains a dual core Cortex A9 central processing unit that has been clocked at 1.2 GHz. A graphics specific PowerVR SGX540 chip is also on board, and 1.0 GB of RAM memory joins 16 GB of built-in storage in the hardware package.

Like most smartphone offerings these days, the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx contains a dual camera combo. On the rear of the device is an 8.0 megapixel camcorder which provides video capture at 1080P HD and 30 frames per second, comes equipped with an LED flash, and offers an F2.4 aperture size. That rear device also delivers autofocus and image stabilizing features, and the front facing 1.3 megapixel chat cam also delivers video call functionality.

In the multimedia package, the onboard music player can filter by album, artist or play list, and a proprietary YouTube video player is also present. A microHDMI port provides wired video out, and wireless DLNA video out access is also on board. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi wireless technologies are both present.  Buy the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx 4G starting at $229, reflecting a $70 savings over the heft Verizon price tag.
