>motoxThe Moto X has been one of the more popular smartphones to hit the market in the last couple of months and it has a lot to do with the fact that users can customize it in a number of ways.  Another draw for consumers is the fact that the smartphone is already getting the Android 4.4 KitKat update from Google.  The new software was just released and typically gets to the Nexus branded devices first, but early reports indicated that Moto X users were already downloading and installing the software only a few days after it was released.

Just like have good battery life, getting the latest operating software is also a plus when it comes to the smartphone you are using.  Back in October, Google announced the Android KitKat software and it was then that many were crossing their fingers with hopes of their devices being added to the update list.  The Verizon Wireless version of the Moto X was the first to be updated and that came just two weeks after the official launch.  Verizon Wireless has a good track record for being last when it comes to getting updates to users on the network.

Some users reported the update even before the Nexus branded devices from last year were added to the list, which his unheard of based on the history of Android operating software updates.  There have been few complaints about the update and now reports are suggesting that those on the US Cellular network will be seeing the brand new software next.  US Cellular is the fifth largest mobile carrier in the United States and typically will see the new software last, but sometime months later.  The fact that is has only been a little more than one month shows the progression of new software in the mobile market.

When new software is issued, it typically goes through a number of testing periods for each of the networks.  If there are few problems reported, the software is then pushed to more devices and over the next two to three weeks hits all of the available devices on the market.  The testing phases sometimes take weeks, but because the Android 4.4 KitKat update is consider a small one, the testing was faster than expected and very soon all of those with the customizable Moto X will have the new software.
