The LG Thrill was recently released as the second mobile phone ever to offer glasses free 3-D viewing. The Android smartphone also allows for recording 3-D in 720P high definition, and is a 4G handset offered on the AT&T 4G mobile broadband network for $19.90 with a two-year activation. Let’s take a quick look at the display, software and hardware tech specs of the LG Thrill 3-D 4G handset.
LG designed the Thrill 4G with a 4.3 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with a display that offers 480 x 800 pixel resolution. This handset also offers 16 million color support with a light sensor and a proximity sensor to enhance the image. 3-D viewing is possible without the need for glasses or extraneous 3-D accessories.
The LG Thrill offers 3-D viewing by capturing 3-D images and video from two rear facing 5 megapixel cameras. When recording in 3-D, the video is captured in 720P high definition, and when recording in 2-D, 1080P HD is available. MicroUSB and microSD slots, as well as an HDMI video out port are also on board. A 3.5 mm headphone jack, power button and volume control are also present. The LG Thrill 4G 3-D handset is 5.07 x 2.68 x 0.47 inches (128.8 x 68 x 11.9 mm) in size, and 5.93 ounces (168 g) in weight.
The processor used to handle all your requests, render video and run the handset is a dual core Texas Instruments OMAP4 1.0 GHz chip with 512 MB of RAM memory. There is also a 3-D graphics hardware accelerator which handles the 3-D video and image transformation.
The LG Thrill 4G handset supports Adobe’s Flash media player and HTML web browsing, and comes preloaded with Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. There is also built-in online service support access. A carousel-like user interface option displays all possible actions in a 3-D roundabout, touchscreen-accessed navigation system. 3D games include Let’s Golf 2, Asphalt 6 and N.O.V.A., along with access to the Gameloft 3D store.
The LG Thrill 4G 3-D Android smartphone is available exclusively on AT&T’s HSPA+ 4G network. Check out the full LG Thrill Review for more info.
