lgg3The LG G3 is not going to be some mid-range device, there is no doubt about that.  With the success that LG had with the huge LG G2, the G3 smartphone is expected to bring everything that company has to the table and that will mean trouble for companies like Samsung, HTC and Apple.  Even though Apple is not working with the same operating system, the smartphone is still a high end device with millions of units sold each and every single year.  LG is hoping to bring a smartphone to the market that might steal some of those loyal Apple fans and they plan to do it will a larger display.

According to some of the rumors that have been circulating over the last few weeks, LG is expecting to get the third generation G3 to the market this year and it will be targeting the display found on the Galaxy S5.  Earlier this year, many expected Samsung to bring the first display to the market with a 2k resolution, but that was not the case and now LG is hoping to take advantage of Samsung missing that target for consumers.

Samsun did deliver that huge 1080×1920 HD display, but LG is looking to step that up a notch with the 2560×1440 full HD 2k resolution on a display that measures up to 5.5-inches.  Other rumors suggested that LG was going to go with a 5.3-inch display, but the company has not confirmed or denied that as of yet.  Some sources are reporting online this week that the rumors are in fact true and other specs have been found out about the high end smartphone.  As of right now, the size of the display might be left to mystery, but the resolution is a for sure thing.

Should LG bring the 2k resolution to the United States with the LG G3, it would be considered the highest resolution in the Android world and would take on other devices like the Oppo Find 7, which also has a super HD display.  Typically, LG will wait until the second quarter to release a smartphone to make sure the latest and greatest hardware and software can be installed on the device.  Waiting a little longer might put the company behind in terms of sales, but the technology could be a step up from companies like Samsung and HTC which deliver new smartphones earlier in the year.
