Ever since the announcement that Amazon was releasing their first tablet offering and first touch screen eReader, and the lowering the price of their Kindle  eReader to $79, Amazon has had no problem selling their many different Kindle devices. But recently, Amazon has reached a sales plateau that is impressive even for them. Thanks to devices like the Kindle Touch touch screen activated eReader, Amazon is selling more than 1 million Kindle devices each and every week leading up to Christmas. That Kindle Touch  eReader comes in a 3G version which also offers Wi-Fi support, and a Wi-Fi only model.

Kindle missed the proverbial boat regarding the release of their touch screen activated eReader, and allowed their top two competitors, Kobo and Barnes & Noble to release a touch screen activated eReader ahead of them. Due to that slip up, both of those eReader manufacturers spent a short amount of time in the top eReader sales spot. However, after the release of their touch screen eReaders, Amazon is back in the top sales spot in the eReader marketplace, thanks to their Amazon Kindle Touch devices priced at $99 for the wi-fi version and $149 for the 3G version.

Amazon recently announced a Library Lending program agreement with thousands of libraries across the US, which allows Kindle Touch owners to access their libraries’ digital content and “check out” available copies without leaving the privacy and comfort of their home. The digital copies expire on their “due date”, saving Kindle Touch owners the hassle of overdue fines and scrambling to get to their library to return physical books. Amazon has also delivered 30 days of free Prime Membership with each Kindle Touch eReader, which provides free streaming videos and free shipping on any merchandise ordered from Amazon’s retail website.

The Kindle Touch eReaders also effectively offer unlimited data storage, even though they possess no microSD slot for storage expansion. Thanks to Amazon’s agreement to offer all Kindle Touch owners unlimited Cloud Storage for all Amazon applications, games and data, there is no need to purchase expensive memory cards to ensure you always have access to your favorite applications. Amazon also designed the Kindle Touch eReaders to be more portable than their previous Kindle, and the new Kindle Touch devices are 8% lighter and 11% smaller than the Kindle 3, yet still deliver the same 6 inch E ink screen. Both Kindle Touch models can store up to 3,000 e-books at one time, and can run up to 60 days on a single battery charge.
