The HTC One X Android smartphone is the recipient of the new Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0.4 operating system update, as well as a tweaked HTC Sense user interface Android overlay. This is not an unofficial build like the ones seen recently on the World Wide Web and in Android forms, but rather the official release sent out by HTC. The roll-out began Friday in the UK, and will be upcoming over the next few days in the United States and other markets. A spokesperson for HTC confirmed the roll-out, but did not give specific day by day launch dates. In that press release, HTC also commented that the Jelly Bean operating system is just about ready for release for the HTC One X as well, saying that a September launch for that smartphone seemed probable.

Upgrades to the Sense UI will allow for mapping menu functions to the “recent app” key, bettering the visual appearance of that app in applications like Facebook, and tab management has been made easier by adding a tab switching button in the browser. Adjusting the white balance has been simplified and refined, and the continuous autofocus during video record has been improved. To make for easier social interaction, there is a single sign-on for Facebook across multiple applications and websites, and though that spokesperson for HTC did say that the Beats Audio software has been improved, they would not provide specific details.

The HTC One X 4G is relatively young, having arrived on May 6 of this year, and it is nice to see such timely operating system updates hitting the Android smartphone. Currently exclusive to the AT&T 4G LTE network in the US and a best seller since it arrived, the phone was the first in the world to provide simultaneous HD video and snapshot capture. Video is recorded in 1,080P HD in stereo sound through the 8.0 megapixel high-resolution camcorder on the back of the handset. There is also a front facing chat cam which provides video call support.

Skinny at 0.35 inches (8.9 mm) in thickness, the handset has a large 4.70 inch Super LCD2 display with 720 x 1,280 pixel resolution and a protective Corning Gorilla Glass overlay. Running operations is a speedy 1.5 GHz Krait central processor, 16 GB of storage is built-in and 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is also on board. The handset also contains a separate Adreno 225 GPU, which focuses specifically on handling all graphics processing.  You can now buy the AT&T HTC One X at a reduced price at select online retailers!  We are not allowed to advertise this new lowered price tag, but you view the HTC One X reduced price here!
