HTC has released a new Smartphone called the HTC Wildfire S. The phone comes in different colors, even white, and is available from T-Mobile. Besides another white Smartphone on the market, the HTC Wildfire is available for only $79! There are plenty of reviews and unboxing videos posted online for this phone with some putting the new phone in their top 3 mid-range phones. The phone is small, making it comfortable for even the smallest hands and easier to handle than other larger smartphones on the market at this time.
How small is the phone? Well, for starters it has a smaller than standard 3.2-inch screen with a resolution of 480×320. A typical Smartphone these days sports at least a 4-inch screen of varying resolutions, but larger than this for sure. The processor is not exactly the fastest on the market listed at only 600 MHz. The back shows a 5MP camera with LED flash which will take nice pictures inside and out. Moving on to the RAM, the HTC Wildfire S comes with 512MB and a 2GB SD card for more storage. Photos online show the mostly white phone with a chrome, or silver border around the screen on the front with what appears to be four function buttons under the screen. The phone is quite thin and has a rectangular shape.
The left side of the phone has the volume controls with the micro-USB charging port. The screen is small, but most reviews said the images are crisp even at a smaller resolution. The top of the phone has the 3.5mm headphone jack with the power button. It has a nice appearance, although it is relatively normal when compared to other Smartphone designs. It gets the job done and at the price you can barely complain about the specs. The only complaint that I could find online was that the function buttons are a little close to the screen and can be hit while trying to type on the touch screen. Not a big deal to some, but if you are typing an email and hit the “home” button, it can get frustrating.
The HTC Wildfire S runs on the Android Gingerbread operating system (version 2.3.3) so it has a bit more speed and efficiently built right in. One reviewer made a note that Angry Birds can be played even with the slower 600 Mhz processor and the 3.2-inch screen.
