googlenowsmartwatchHTC has one of the most popular smartphones on the market right now with its replacement about to be revealed within the next couple days and now there is news that the company might have a product for the smartwatch category.  HTC has been talking about their plans for the wearable computer market and this information falls right into that category as the company is expected to launch the Google Now smartwatch this year.  HTC is talking about adding new smartwatches, fitness devices and even a new tablet for the United States markets.

HTC has talked about making wearable computer devices that users will actually want and according to one online source, HTC is planning to reveal three wearable computing devices and one of them is the Google Now smartwatch.  Next week is the Mobile World Congress event in Spain and there the public is expecting to see the a smartwatch prototype, but rumors are pointing to the fact that HTC is not planning to show this publicly.  Closed door reveals are not fun for the public, but the invited persons will certainly have a lot to talk about after they see the new device.

HTC has plans in effect that are going to bring the new products to the marketplace before Christmas, which is actually the goal of any company that is moving forward and trying to boost sales.  The source that posted about this online says that the smartwatch will be built on the Qualcomm TOQ developer kit, include a low-power display, Bluetooth connections, Wi-Fi support and a music player.  The addition of  a Mirasol display is one that is lower  in power consumption that can last for weeks rather than just a couple of days like the Galaxy Gear from Samsung.

The Google Now smartwatch is going to use an AMOLED display like the Galaxy Gear and might be curved for a better fit on the wrist.  The Google Now smartwatch will run on Android and be built around Google Now, which is going to be the key feature once the device hits the market.  Other than that, any other information about the Google Now model is now known at this time.  A fitness tracker is also in line for release and that will take on the FitBit, Nike Fuelband and will also have a built in music player and display.
