It appears that ICS may be getting closer to the Rezound, as online technology pundits have alluded to a May 7 final testing date for ICS Rezound compatibility. In lieu of the “here it comes … nope, it is being put off” feel of all the ICS Rezound rumors, Verizon Wireless has decided to aggressively drop the retail price of the first United States handset to deliver the full range audio program Beats by Dr. Dre. For a retail price of $99 at select Verizon authorized retailers with a new two-year activation and data plan, smartphone shoppers can purchase one of the best overall feature sets of any 4G handset. A high-speed processor, substantial RAM memory allotment, high resolution display and high-res camcorder join the popular Beats audio software in the Gingerbread operated handset.
A set of specially designed Beats Ear Buds also accompanies the HTC Rezound handset purchase, and comes equipped with an in-line mic and in-line remote control which allow for hands-free operation, and the ability to pause, rewind and fast-forward music selections in the middle of a voice call. The 4.30 inch display offers performance at the high end of the entire 4G smartphone marketplace, with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution, delivered at 342 pixels per inch.
On the hardware side, 16 GB of built-in, user accessible storage and 1.0 GB of RAM system memory are on board. The Qualcomm MSM8660 Snapdragon microchip package on the HTC Rezound includes a dual core Scorpion central processing chip which has been clocked at 1.5 GHz, as well as an Adreno 220 chip which handles all graphics duties. A standard microSD slot is on board for memory expansion and off board data access.
The 8.0 megapixel camcorder on the back of the device gives the HTC Rezound the ability to record video and take snapshots in low light situations with the dual LED flash, while providing autofocus, white balance, ISO control and Geo tagging features. That camcorder records video in 1080P HD resolution and 30 frames per second, and Rezound owners can capture portrait snapshots and place video calls with the front facing 2.0 megapixel chat cam.
