When Verizon announced the HTC Rezound back in November last year, our smarrtphone-crazed brethren were extremely excited to get their hands on the black and red handset from Taiwanese smartphone and tablet manufacturer HTC. Not only did the handset sport an HD-capable display, it also came with its main draw – Beats Audio integration which significantly improved the sound quality of the handset to the delight of users who utilize their smartphones as a music player.

The HTC Rezound is one capable handset, sure we are all aware of that fact but what really tops it all off is the fact that the handset can now be had at select Verizon authorized retailers starting at only $49.99, a full savings of 150 bucks given the fact that Verizon is offering the device for $199.99. Of course, you will still be required to sign a new two-year agreement with the carrier if you want to take advantage of the handset’s list price at the online retailer but even if you are averse to getting tied down with a particular carrier, this is an acceptable compromise given the capabilities that the HTC Rezound brings to the table.
First off, the handset is as attractive as it can get. Despite the fact that it is rather bulky and hefty at its dimensions of 129 x 65.5 x 13.7 mm and catch weight of 170.1 grams, the handset is still gorgeous with its black colorway and red accents that contrast nicely with the overall look of the smartphone. In addition to that, the aluminum unibody construction of the handset give the HTC Rezound a solid build quality that is expected from a high-end device. Under the hood, the HTC Rezound currently runs Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread for its operating system but has been confirmed to get an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest version of the Google mobile operating system. In fact, the handset recently got a leaked Ice Cream Sandwich update, a version that is said that is very close to the real thing which started speculations that the official ICS update can be expected to hit the device anytime now.
The HTC Rezound is a handset designed to feed your need for speed. The circuitry of the hanset is built around a QualComm MSM8660 SnapDragon chipset, an SoC where a dual-core Scorpion processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, a full gigabyte of RAM and a dedicated Adreno 220 GPU all work in conjunction with each other to ensure that the performance of the handset is as smooth and as lag-free as capable. Enjoying multimedia files is taken to another level with the 4.3-inch SuperLCD panel of the handset with its resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Combined with the Beats Audio integration that the HTC Rezound packs and you have an Android-powered smartphone built for both work and play. It also has a spacious internal memory pegged at 16GB. Should that not be enough, a dedicated microSD card slot lets you expand the memory of the HTC Rezound and to this effect, a 16GB microSD card is already included in the retail package of the handset.
At this point in time, there is no doubt that the HTC Rezound is one of the best handsets in the lineup of Verizon with its sub-$80 pricing at an online retailer and the official update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is sure to make the handset even more capable than it already is.
