The HTC Rezound 4G Android smartphone arrived on November 14 of last year as the first US handset to deliver the full range Beats Audio package. Also boasting a speedy dual core processor, extremely high pixel density, high-resolution display and accompanying red and black iBeats ear buds, the Rezound 4G has an attractive overall feature set for a smartphone. The iBeats ear buds were designed specifically for the Beats Audio platform, and contain an in-line remote control and hands-free mic, and the handset also delivers true HD video capture. But there are a few characteristics of the HTC Rezound 4G that have flown under the radar and deserve mentioning.

The first is obviously the promised delivery of Android’s 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system delivered in an over the air update by the end of June. And the handset does run on what has been tested by independent reviewers as the fastest and most reliable 4G LTE network in the United States. RootMetrics is just one of many reviewers who have tested the network and found them to offer the fastest up and download speeds of the four major US wireless carriers, and the largest and most consistent wireless network.

The Rezound also offers simultaneous voice and data capabilities. This means not having to stop your application or game while in the middle of a voice call. You can check e-mail or pull up Google Maps to give directions, surf the web and continue whatever you were doing without interruption. And with the built-in microphone and online remote control provided by the iBeats ear buds, making hands-free voice calls is simple. You can also pause, rewind or advance your music selection when you answer a voice call.

The HTC Rezound also delivers the most out-of-the-box, user accessible storage of any 4G smartphone, at 32 GB total. The handset comes with 16 GB of data storage built in, but also ships with a removable 16 GB microSD card. And the HTC Sense user interface meshes perfectly with any Android operating system, providing you with some really nice functionality. The customizable lock screen provides a real-time window to your favorite content, whether you want Facebook and Twitter updates, weather, current stock prices, photos or any other data or application. Simply wake up the display and the information you want is immediately available.

You can also access all your e-mail accounts without switching back and forth. Just tap on the icon which displays your current e-mail account, and then tap on “All Accounts.” And tracking your friends’ activity has never been easier. The People widget lets you create a group of contacts, and find out what they are currently doing right on your home screen. It displays your friend’s photo or icon, as well as their latest social network post or status, and any missed calls or SMS messages from them. Add a dual core 1.5 GHz processor, 1,080P HD video recording in stereo sound, extremely high 342 pixels per inch pixel density and 720 x 1,280 pixel overall screen resolution, and you have a pretty attractive Android smartphone starting at $99 at select Verizon authorized retailers.
