Digital cameras have come a long way. It used to be that the camera on a smartphone was barely capable of recording images that closely resembled what you are snapping. Then, those cameras evolved, and added camcorder capabilities, but again, in the very early days of smartphone cameras the results were less than incredible. In this day and age of technological advancements, nearly every 4G smartphone has dual cameras, a lower MP chat cam up front, and a high-resolution camcorder in the back. The HTC One X 4G exclusive to the AT&T 4G LTE network and retailing currently for $119 on contract is one example of a current smartphone that offers one of the best camera packages of any mobile handset.

The HTC One X 4G delivers Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0 operating system out-of-the-box, as well as one of the largest high resolution displays you will find on any smartphone, and one of the fastest processors, and comes loaded with the full range Beats by Dr. Dre audio software package. And while those features are found on only the most recent and most technologically advanced smartphones, the camera package on board the handset is tough to beat.

Facing from the rear of the HTC One X is an 8.0 megapixel camcorder which can take still snapshots as well as capture high definition 1,080P HD video in stereo sound. And you can simultaneously record high definition video while taking snapshots as well. The smartphone manufacturers at HTC gave the handset a nearly instant image capture feature, allowing you to snap shots in just 0.7 seconds. They also built the camcorder to capture 40% more light than the average smartphone. That is due to the F/2.0 lens (most smartphones offer an F/2.4 lens) and LED flash built-in to the camera. The handset also delivers advanced camera features such as a back illuminated sensor (BSI) and high dynamic range mode (HDR), and adds autofocus, geo-tagging, face and smile detection. Accompanying it in the camera combo is a front facing 1.3 megapixel chat cam that also provides video call support.

And if you want to share your photos, the fast dual core 1.5 GHz Krait processor gets the job done. There is also 1.0 GB of RAM memory and 16 GB of built-in storage on board. Near Field Communications (NFC) retail payment processing support is available out-of-the-box, and the handset comes preloaded with a proprietary YouTube video player. The large 4.70 inch display carries a screen resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels.
