htconeblackjAndroid operating system rollouts are always the focus of much rumors and hypotheses. But the anticipated Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 operating system update pegged for July has actually just begun rolling out. No official announcement has been made by HTC about the upgrade, but several sources have reported that the over the air OS bump for the HTC One began appearing in Taiwan, and in China the dual SIM version has begun to receive Android 4.2.2 as well. The HTC One update runs approximately 465 MB in size.

This is the third Jelly Bean update, the most for any of the sweetly named Android operating systems, and delivers new features like home button customization, notification quick settings, a battery percentage indicator and six new video highlight themes. Generally Android OS updates begin in Asia or Europe and head west, and there has been no word as to when North America can expect the over the air transfer. The HTC One debuted on April 19 in the US, and has already shipped more than 5 million units.

A powerful quad core processor runs the handset, and ample RAM memory along with the exclusive Beats Audio sound enhancement package are on board. But clearly the main draw on the smartphone is the large high-resolution display. At an industry leading 468 pixels per inch, 16 million separate colors are used to render visuals. This gives the 4.7 inch Full HD 1,080P display a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels, and the phone arrives in a slim 0.37 inch (9.3 mm) form factor. HTC manufactured the handset with a durable metal unibody design, and the Snapdragon 600 quad core CPU can provide up to 40% more power than the Snapdragon S4 Pro.

That central processor has been clocked at 1.7 GHz, and joins 2.0 GB of RAM memory and 32 GB of built-in storage in the handset’s hardware package. The sealed battery on the HTC One 4G Android smartphone delivers a full 16.0 hours of talk time from a full charge, as well as 8.5 hours of video playback. The HTC One offers NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and DLNA wireless connectivity options, and the onboard Stereo FM radio with RDS display benefits from front facing dual speakers.

HTC has created a new UltraPixel designation by combining a 4 megapixel camera with a special floating lens, advanced CMOS sensor and ISP, and the result is up to 300% better light capture than the typical phone camera with 8 or even 13 megapixel sensors. That rear snapper records video in 1,080P HD resolution and 30 frames per second, delivers features like optical image stabilization, a self timer and back illuminated sensor (BSI), and delivers an extensive special effects and customization package. The phone also offers a front facing chat cam with video call support.
