In terms of releasing its plans of getting the handsets in its stable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, HTC was a bit late in doing so. The Taiwanese smartphone and tablet manufacturer only managed to do so back in March when it released the list of devices that will get the Android 4.0 refresh and the ETAs as to when this handsets will get the upgrade.
Included in the said list is the HTC EVO 3D and after months of waiting, users of the handset have finally gotten the much-awaited Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for the handset. Well, only those rocking the international version of the handset residing in the EMEA (Europe – Middle East – Africa) region that is. Of course, it is only expected that the carrier-branded version of the handset would get its Ice Cream Sandwich treat much later because the carrier has as much input in terms of what gets included in the ICS update for that matter.
ICS hit the original version of the HTC EVO 3D last June 26 but barely a couple of weeks after that, we already heard reports that the update is already being rolled out to a carrier-branded version of the handset. If you happen to live north of the border in Canadian territories and happen to have an HTC EVO 3D from Rogers, you’re in luck. Apparently, the wireless provider have started pushing out the update to the handset and you should be waking up with the notification that will let you know of the update’s availability on your handset. Should the notification be nowhere to be found, you can always manually check for the update.
Because of this, users of the Sprint version of the HTC EVO 3D in US shores are already asking as to when they will get the update on their respective devices. Hopefully, it wont be long now and once we hear more details, you will definitely be the first to know.
As for the HTC EVO 3D, the circuitry of the handset revolves around a QualComm MSM8660 SnapDragon chipset which brings a dual-core 1.2 GHz Scorpion processor and a full gigabyte of RAM to the handset. In terms of its storage space, the HTC EVO 3D comes with 4GB of onboard storage which can be expanded using the microSD card slot of the handset. The display of the handset is its standout feature with its 4.3-inch glasses-free, 3D capable SuperLCD panel with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. The camera department of the handset on the other hand is composed of a rear 5MP shooter and a front-facing 1.3MP video call camera.
