The newest addition to the Droid family is the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE smartphone. The handset arrived July 5th on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network, and currently sells starting at $99 on contract at select retailers. Arriving in the typical black, rectangular slab form factor of most all smartphones, the handset measures 4.82 x 2.40 x 0.46 inches and weighs (122 x 61 x 12 mm) 4.66 ounces (132 g), average in size and slightly heavier in weight than the typical 4G smartphone. The Droid Incredible 4G LTE delivers Droid’s Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0 operating system, a powerful processor, simultaneous HD video and image capture and high resolution video recording.
The display on board the Droid Incredible 4G handset is 4.00 inches, and that Super LCD capacitive touchscreen employs more than 16 million colors for visual displays. Pixel density runs 275 pixels per inch for an overall screen resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, and the HTC Sense v4.0 UI Android overlay meshes with ICS 4.0, supporting multitouch, capacitive gestures for navigation. That display is protected against scratching and chipping by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass.
Talk time on the Droid Incredible 4G runs approximately 20% better than the typical 4G handset, at 9.57 hours after a single charge of the 1,700 mA battery on board. Battery standby time runs 18.6 days, and the hardware package is centered around a Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon microchip set that includes a dual core 1.2 GHz Krait central processor and graphics dedicated Adreno 225 GPU. A microSD slot is on board to provide storage expansion and also supports microSDHC cards up to 32 GB, and 8.0 GB of storage is built into the handset. An 8.0 megapixel camcorder is integrated into the back of the handset, and has a 28 mm wide-angle lens that allows you to sweep the camera from side to side for extrawide panorama shots. A back illuminated sensor (BSI) and autofocus team up with features like the instant capture mode which allows you to take snapshots instantly, even from the pass code protected lock screen, to allow for customization and a wide array of camera options. The unique Group Shot feature takes five pictures at once and composes the best faces into one “best portrait.” That camera records video in 1,080P HD resolution, and joins a front facing 0.3 megapixel VGA quality chat cam in the camera combo.
