In terms of LTE coverage in our side of the world, Verizon is still the undisputed leader with the width and breadth of its LTE coverage. AT&T is on second place while Sprint already got the green light to light up its LTE network by July 15. Because of this, Verizon has to have the most varied handset base of LTE-supporting handsets to give its subscribers many choices when it comes to the devices that they will use to take advantage of the carrier’s LTE network.
When talking about Verizon’s handset base, one of the most recent smartphones to be added on to this lineup of the carrier is the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE. Well, not really that recent because its addition was announced about a month and a half ago. During the handset’s announcement, Verizon let it slip that the handset can be expected to make its first appearance in the shelves of the wireless provider in the coming weeks. Having been announced in the middle of May, we were expecting that the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE will make it to the shelves by June.
Sad to say, this is not to happen because the handset unfortunately experienced delays after delays after delays. Initially said to hit Verizon shelves last June 21, we already know that that release date did not pan out. A couple of days ago, it was rumored that the handset will land come July 5. With this launch date so close to the release of the Verizon version of the Samsung Galaxy S III (which will hit the shelves of the carrier on July 10), we are rather worried with the prospects of the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE to make it big and leave a mark for that matter.
After all the shenanigans and the hullabaloo that caused the delays of the handset, July 5 has finally arrived and so has the HTC Droid Incredible 4G in the shelves of Verizon. Similar to what was intimated in the leaked Verizon MAP (Minimum Advertized Price) List that surfaced a couple of days back, the HTC Droid Incredible will come with a price point of $149.99 on a new two-year service agreement with Verizon.
As for the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE, the handset packs a QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset while its snappy and buttery-smooth performance is brought about by its dual-core Krait processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and a full gigabyte of RAM. The storage space onboard the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE comes up to 8GB and while this may be meager for power users, a microSD card slot in the chassis of the handset enables its user to beef up its internal memory. Display-wise, the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE sports a 4.0-inch SuperLCD panel with a qHD resolution of 540 x 960 pixels while its camera department equips the handset with a rear 8MP shooter and a front-facing 1.3MP snapper.
