When Verizon announced the addition of the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE to the carrier’s lineup of Android-powered devices about one and a half months ago, the wireless provider confirmed during the announcement that the handset will hit the shelves in the coming weeks. Being launched in the shadow of the Samsung Galaxy S III, the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE had diminishing prospects of making it big the longer it waits before it makes its debut in the shelves of Verizon.
The last word we heard about the projected release date of the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE was June 21. Since the date has already come and gone, there can only be two possibilities here – either the information that got leaked was erroneous or there is a delay in the release schedule of the handset. According to a reliable source, the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE’s failure to debut in the shelves of Verizon last Thursday has been caused by a delay – this despite the fact that signages and marketing materials for the handset have already been delivered to the brick and mortar stores and retail locations of the carrier as early as two weeks ago.
With regard to its new launch date, rumors have it that the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE will make its first appearance in the shelves of Verizon on July 5. With this late release date, the handset only has 5 days to basically make a mark before the Samsung Galaxy S III hits the shelves. With that turn of events, the delay of the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE launch might have been simply unavoidable that Verizon had no choice but to release the handset so close to the launch date of the Samsung Galaxy SIII.
As for the price point of the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE, the leaked MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) List from Verizon intimates that the handset will be offered to the smartphone-buying public for $149.99 after a mail-in rebate of $50. Of course, it is to be expected that this price point includes a new two-year agreement with Verizon for that matter.
As for the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE, the handset packs support for the LTE network of Verizon and has its circuitry built around a QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset under the hood. This SoC brings dual-core capabilities to the handset via its dual-core 1.2 GHz Krait processor and a full gigabyte of RAM. The storage space of the handset comes up to 8GB with an option to have it expanded using the microSD card slot of the device. Its display on the other hand is a 4.0-inch SuperLCCD panel made from Gorilla Glass with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. Its camera department on the other hand outfits the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE with a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP snapper.
