Each day more apps are added by developers that make things much easier to do for consumers with mobile devices.  Google has created some really nice apps that help small business and keep a user occupied during their personal time.  The new Google Currents is not any different of an app.  Google launched the digital magazine app which brings reading material from 150 published partners to users with an iPad, iPhone or Android powered devices.  The app allows users to get full length articles that are optimized to view on tablets and smartphones.

Google Currents also offers audio, text, photos and videos which also come with offline support.  Users of the new Google app will be able to load their Google+ and Google Reader accounts, as well as, other video and photo feeds which can be organized by you to create custom content.  Google Currents also keeps users updated with a Trending feature that is updated with new stories each hour.  The Trending topics are put into categories like world, entertainment, sports and science.  All the trending stories include photos or videos that are related.

Of course you cannot have a brand new app that doesn’t have more than one way to share with your friends.  Google Currents allows a user to share favorite stories, photos and videos with Google+, Twitter, as well as the chance to send via email.  If the user is logged into their Google accounts from more than one device the accounts will be synced across all of them.  The ability to share the content that you see has become quite popular and Google tying it to your Google+ account will be a good thing for exposure.  In the United States you can pick up Google Currents for free.  The download is available in the Android Market and the Apple App Store.

Google Currents is hoping to be the best place to find news content, as well as, video and photo feeds.  The mobile app will work just like “Flipboard”, which was released by Apple last year for the iPad.  Google is also launching a service that allows self-published content to be customized and presented to Google Currents users.  The new service will allow for small time organizations to publish their own content on Google Currents.  Google is actually the third company to launch a digital magazine app, last month Yahoo released Livestand to compete with other apps.
