google2Google recently brought the Google Keyboard and Google Search to the Google Play Store to make updates even easier than before and now there are reports that the company will also be doing the same thing with the Google Camera app.  Besides becoming a separate part of the Android update, the Camera application is expected to have an update any day now that will bring new features and other performance improvements.  Google has slowly been taking small pieces of the Android operating system and moving them to the Google Play Store, giving users that option to see the update right away rather than wait for the major Android update a couple times per year.

The Nexus 5 is the main focus with the camera upgrades from Google.  With Android 4.4 KitKat the phone saw plenty of new features and improvements to the camera, but many thought the camera still needed some work.  Android 4.4.1 and 4.4.2 also brought some updates and fixes for the camera and focused mostly on the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5.  Over the last two weeks, there has been plenty to talk about when it comes to the Android 4.4.3 update.

The small update is expected to come with a bunch of minor bugs, security updates and is expected to bring updates to the camera application.  If Google moves the application to the Google Play Store before that, the update will hit before the Android 4.4.3 software.  Other cameras on the market have been taking advantage of Google’s lack of features and are really pulling consumers towards them.  HTC has the M8 with the Duo Camera, while at the same time Nokia has some of the best camera technology and software on the market hands down.

This is putting pressure on Google to get things together and bring an ultimate camera application for Nexus branded devices, plus the Moto smartphones.  Rumors suggest that Google will be adding improved user interface, background blurring effects, improved panorama and a bunch of new filters to user for photos.  Other rumors were also reporting that third party filters and settings could be imported to the camera application, but neither of these has been confirmed by Google.  Once the app gets moved to the Google Play Store, it will be easier to see the update logs and get the software to your device.
