gs4The Galaxy S II lineup for Samsung has been quite successful. The company has recorded record profits thanks to the most recent iteration of the Galaxy S line, the Galaxy S III. The Galaxy S II was a globally successful and popular smartphone, and really began to raise awareness for Samsung in the smartphone arena. And while Apple single-handedly began to dictate how other smartphone makers manufactured their handsets with the arrival of their iconic iPhone in 2007, lately the Cupertino-based smartphone maker has been playing catch-up in the features department.

The Samsung Galaxy S III is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $19.99.

Tap-to-Share data transfer, a screen larger than 4.5 inches and increased Android operating system popularity all helped the Galaxy S III to global sales of more than 50 million units and counting. And while smartphone makers used to struggle to copycat the iPhone’s features and characteristics, the Apple iPhone 5 was the first handset to deliver a 4.0 inch display, already a commonplace characteristic on even low end and entry-level mobile handsets when the iPhone 5 launched. And while the 4.80 inch True HD display of the Galaxy S III is a large, high-resolution beauty, the Galaxy S4 will arrive with even a bigger and higher resolution screen.

It is no secret that the Apple iPhone did not really have much competition until the arrival of the Galaxy S III, and with the Galaxy S4 unveiling in New York on March 14, Samsung is hoping to have a true iPhone killer on their hands. The Galaxy S4 will feature a large 4.99 inch display with Full HD 1,080 x 1,920 pixels, delivering 16 million colors at a rate of 441 pixels per inch. That display size and resolution is matched by only a couple of handsets currently, and early indicators are that the overall feature package of the Galaxy S4 has already generated record-breaking interest.

Carphone Warehouse is one of the largest independent mobile handset retailers in the UK, and they recently reported that pre-registrations for the Galaxy S4 Android smartphone have already reached four times those of the Galaxy S III last year. Graham Stapleton is the Chief Operating Officer at Carphone Warehouse, and he stated that last year’s Galaxy S III pre-registrations were a record breaker at that time, making the current Galaxy S4 pre-regs even more impressive.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 will deliver a quad core central processor in the United States, and an octo-core Exynos 5 CPU in the international version, with depth and temperature sensors on board for the first time in a Galaxy S phone. The handset also debuts cutting-edge technology like eyeball-recognition, which the Galaxy S4 will use to track the movements of your eyes. This will allow hands-free operation in many forms, and the Floating Touch feature allows you to use hand gestures to control the phone without ever touching the screen. The global Galaxy S4 rollout begins April 26.

You can purchase the Galaxy S III for Verizon now starting at $19.99.
