The Motorola Droid Razr MAXX leads the 4G field in smartphone battery performance and storage out-of-the-box. The handset delivers 21.5 hours of talk time or a full 15 hours of video playback from a single charge of the extended life 3,300 mA battery. That 4G Android smartphone also offers the most out-of-the-box, user accessible storage of any smartphone, at 32 GB. That is delivered through a combination of 16 GB of built-in data storage and a removable 16 GB microSD card that ships with the handset. Those two 4G-best features, combined with the new lower retail price of $149 on contract, as well as the capability to be used as a laptop or desktop PC, arguably make the Motorola Droid Razr MAXX 4G one of the best values in the entire 4G smartphone marketplace.

Motorola designed the skinny Droid Razr MAXX (0.35 inches or 8.9 mm thick) with a splash-proof and rugged Kevlar and aluminum chassis, and protected the display with a layer of scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass. They then designed a Lapdock 100 optional accessory which uses the speedy processor on board the Droid Razr MAXX to power a 10.2 inch laptop with full keyboard and track pad, when the handset is docked into the Lapdock. That Lapdock accessory also provides 5.0 hours of extra battery life. The optional HD Station feature made specifically for the Droid Razr MAXX provides three additional USB slots and an HDMI slot, allowing the handset to be used as a Desktop PC when hooked up to a large screen monitor or HDTV display, keyboard and mouse.

That PC functionality is not found in the vast majority of 4G smartphones currently offered, and the 1.2 GHz Cortex A9 central processor benefits by running on the Verizon 4G LTE system that independent wireless systems reviewer RootMetrics tested as the fastest and most reliable in the United States. A full 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board, and a PowerVR SGX540 chip handles all the graphics processing. At only $149, the Motorola Droid Razr MAXX 4G is a solid option for smartphone users on Verizon.

The 4.30 inch Super AMOLED display has a screen resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, and an 8.0 megapixel camcorder on the back of the handset comes equipped with an LED flash, and offers autofocus and image stabilizing features. That rear snapper provides high resolution video capture at 1,080P HD and 30 frames per second, and a 1.3 megapixel chat cam up front also provides opportunities for video snapshots and video calls.
