The Motorola Droid Razr MAXX 4G recently received a retail price reduction to $99 with a new standard two-year contract and data plan from Verizon Wireless. That handset runs on the 4G LTE Verizon network along with its skinnier twin the Motorola Droid Razr 4G. Borrowing all the popular features and unique appearance of the Razr that debuted as the skinniest handset ever designed, the only difference on the Razr MAXX 4G is an 85% larger battery. That leads to extreme battery performance, delivering max talk time and video playback. A single charge of the 3,300 mA battery on board on delivers up to 21.5 hours of talk time or 15.0 hours of video playback.  You can purchase the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx for as little as $99.

You may recall the over-the-top advertisements of the Droid Razr 4G slicing through light poles, fire hydrants and anything else it encountered, as Motorola tried to drive home the point that it was razor thin. Keeping with that thought, even though the Droid Razr MAXX 4G was given the huge battery, the handset is neither heavy nor fat, measuring a svelte 0.35 inches (8.99 mm) in thickness and weighing 5.1 ounces (145 g). 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board, and the Droid Razr MAXX 4G uses a 1.2 GHz dual core Cortex A9 central processor to handle operations. A separate PowerVR SGX540 GPU focuses entirely on graphics processing, and the built-in microSD slot also supports microSDHC cards.

As a 4G handset the device works as you would imagine, but can also transform into a desktop PC, a laptop PC and a hands-free in-car GPS. Choose the optional Lapdock 100 laptop accessory, and you create an entry-level laptop with a 10.1 inch display that also adds 5.0 hours of run time, and comes equipped with a full keyboard and track pad. Motorola’s WebTop OS provides web access, and the optional Motorola HD Station allows you to hook the Droid Razr MAXX 4G up to an external HDTV screen or monitor, keyboard, mouse and other peripherals. The optional Motorola in-car GPS dock allows the Droid Razr MAXX to provide hands-free, turn by turn GPS functionality.

With a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED display and 540 x 960 pixel resolution, the display accepts capacitive, multitouch gestures for device navigation. The Droid Razr Maxx 4G provides video capture at 1,080P HD resolution via the 8.0 megapixel camcorder on the back of the handset, and the chat cam up front provides video call support. A YouTube video player has been pre-installed, and the built-in music player supports all major audio file formats.  Buy the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx starting at $99 at select retailers.
